The Dance of The Huntress

Book 2 of the Dance of The Blacksmith and The Huntress Series

Escaping an arranged marriage was just the beginning of Ophelia’s extraordinary journey. A courageous decision led her away from a life of opulence and into the perilous world of a cateran, a valiant warrior charged with maintaining the delicate balance between the realms of creatures and humans. Upon her arrival, she bravely rescued a desolate boy named Doyle from the clutches of goblins, unknowingly setting the stage for a profound connection between them.

Embraced by the priestesses of the revered Temple of Drethia, Ophelia not only realized her ambition of becoming a legendary cateran but also achieved a status that transcended mere legend. However, tragedy struck, cruelly snatching away her hard-earned dreams. Through it all, Doyle remained a significant yet enigmatic figure in her life.

Both Ophelia and Doyle, bearing scars that marred not just their physical forms but their souls as well, found themselves entwined in a delicate dance. Their unspoken desires for each other created a mesmerising yet tortuous bond, leaving them both yearning for a love they struggled to voice.

This is Ophelia’s tale, marked by triumphs and heartaches, where the allure of romance intertwines with the enchantment of fantasy.

“The Dance of the Huntress” stands as the compelling second installment in the enthralling fantasy romance series, “Dance of the Blacksmith and the Huntress.”

Ophelia spent three more days travelling sleeping out in the open if she couldn’t find an inn. She killed someone else who tried to attack her. She was getting tired. How much further did she have to travel?

Not long after her kill, she heard fevered shouts and the sound of steel upon steel. She ran forward and saw some men fight some monsters on the road. This section of the road was dark where the trees on either side met high above blocking out the sun. Remembering the pictures in her books she thought the monsters might be goblins because of their short height, and ugly appearance. Two men were on the ground. One looked dead and the other looked badly injured. She saw a boy about her age run into the fray and brutally cut down most of the goblins until he got knocked down himself.

Ophelia was excited. This is what caterans do, save people from monsters! She knocked an arrow and fired two in quick succession and killed the goblins standing over the boy. Ophelia walked over to the boy who looked disconsolate.

“Do you require assistance?” Ophelia asked a little haughtily, proud of herself that she saved somebody already.

“My friend and teacher is dead,” the mourned. Ophelia assumed that was the red-headed man lying dead on the ground next to him. “Did yer kill those goblins?” The boy asked through his tears. “What did this boy mean, why couldn’t she have killed the goblins?” Ophelia thought.

“Why? You think a girl can kill goblins?” The Ophelia said loftily. She had just saved his life and he was doubting her already just because she was a girl.

“I suppose they could,” the boy admitted, “but did yer?”

This boy was simple, not bad-looking, but simple all the same.

“Yes, I did,” Ophelia replied, her chin rising in pride.

“Then thank yer. Yer saved me,” the boy said quietly. Ophelia could see he was genuinely grateful which made her feel happy, she felt like she was a real cateran, like the ones she read about in her books.
